Colo-Rectal Surgery
We provide comprehensive care for the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions affecting the lower gastrointestinal tract, including the colon, rectum, and anus. Our expertise covers a wide spectrum of disorders such as colon and rectal cancers, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and functional issues like rectal prolapse, fecal incontinence, anal fissures, hemorrhoids, and other related concerns.
Our surgical team brings extensive experience in all types of colorectal procedures. We specialize in minimally invasive techniques, primarily laparoscopic surgery, for colon and rectal conditions. These minimally invasive approaches offer significant benefits, including reduced post-operative pain, faster recovery times, and smaller, less noticeable scars.
Hernia Surgery
What is Hernia?
A hernia typically appears as a bulge along the abdominal wall, belly button, or groin. While pain or discomfort often accompanies it, some hernias may be painless. Symptoms usually worsen with activities such as exercise, straining, or prolonged standing. A hernia that becomes swollen, tender, and cannot be pushed back in may require urgent medical attention.
We provide care for both elective and emergency hernia repairs. Our surgeons have extensive experience repairing all types of hernias, including:
- Umbilical (belly-button)
- Inguinal (groin)
- Abdominal wall, including ventral and incisional hernias
- Recurrent hernias
We offer robotic, laparoscopic, and open surgical approaches tailored to your specific hernia and needs. Your surgeon will discuss the best treatment options with you during your consultation.
GERD (Gastro-esophageal Reflux Disease)
ANTI-REFLUX AND HIATAL Hernia Surgery
Persistent reflux, commonly known as “heartburn,” that does not improve with medical treatment, as well as moderate to large hiatal hernias, are indications for surgical repair. Reflux symptoms may include upper abdominal pain that radiates to the back or chest, a sour taste in the mouth, and the need to sleep with multiple pillows to prevent nighttime reflux. Breathing difficulties are also common, as reflux can worsen conditions like COPD and reduce lung capacity when the stomach pushes into the chest.
Dr. Zurkovsky, Pahuja, Pasquariello, Kremen, and Mehta bring extensive expertise in minimally invasive hiatal hernia repair and anti-reflux surgery. Dr. Mehta specializes in foregut surgery. These procedures are usually performed laparoscopically, eliminating the need for large abdominal or chest incisions typical of traditional surgeries.
